What is HEALTHY?
That is loaded question. you ask 20 people onthe street you'll probably get 20 diffrent answer. in general many of us do know the "eat right and exercise" routine. it's good start, and i think if more Malaysians followed that along with "stop smoking", we would see our health get a whole lot better. you can still eat right without necessarily eating organic. you can still exercise event if you don't belong to a gym.
if you r nor healthy, you won't b able to enjoy the best rewards life has to offer you.
if you r healthy, you r able to enjoy your wealth and opportunities life has to offer you
Money can buy you HEALTH?
If you have a good amount of money, you can buy yourself a good measure of health. i've looked at Vin Diesel's body arms and thought "wow he is in great health!". however, i'm quick to point out it's part of their job to look that way. They can pay for a personal trainer, nutritionalist, personal chef, and so on. i think the average person has to really think if they can afford these things. it is my opinion that many cannot.
In adition to the above there are a whole host of things that you could do with enough budget. one could buy an expensive water ionizer or water filters that provide convenient spring water taste. you could have whole complete package of supplements from GNC. you could have your home fitted with rain showers and state of the art fitness machines.
Or one could opt for half-yearly checkups at 5-star Prince Court Hospital and have enough Ringgits to afford the best Medical treatment available.
Medical Bills: The Leading Cause of Bankruptcy.
It may surprise you, but medical bills are the leading cause of personal bankruptcy from a HARVARD STUDY. I see two paths you can go with this. You can spend your money trying to make yourself comfortable. Or you can take reasonable preventative measures and continue to grow your money for the day you might need it. If you go with the 100% prevention plan, you better hope you've got all your bases 100% covered. If any critical illness hit that you couldn't prevent, you probably won't have the funds to get by it.
Health Priorities and Measuring Cost-Benefit
Like any purchase decision, I think you have to run a little cost-benefit analysis.
If i'm already eating lots of fruits and vegetables, am i going to get value by spending RM 3,600 a year for supplements/food cravings? However, if a doctor says that quitting coffee/tea/cola can prevent me from getting backache/diabetics, that's something i'm going to do immediately.
If my daily intake is unhealthy food (junk, fast, goreng food), am i going to get value by spending RM2,400 a year for a gym subscription? However, if a doctor says that a medical treatment that cost RM50K for a heart disease is covered by Medical Insurance, that's something i'm going to sign up immediately.
Consider the alarming statistics in today's world
Heart Disease Strikes 1 in 3 People
Cancer Strikes 1 in 2 Men and 1 in 3 Women
I've put a price on my health and it's very high Part of that price is saving some cash in an insurance plan for treatment tomorrow as it is for today.
While no one likes to consider the possibility of illness, i know that refusing to plan for the worst can have devastating consequences. Medical insurance may not be the most exciting purchase, but having having a policy in place can provide enormous peace of mind.
